Janet Briery

Janet Briery is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization as a paralegal in the area of criminal law, one of only ten in the state with that distinction.  She received her paralegal certification from the University of Texas Paralegal Program, and has been a member of the firm since 2000.  She is an expert in the area of DWI, license suspension, occupational licenses, and always plays a vital role in any litigation.  Janet works closely with our clients, and answers many of the legal questions that clients ask, along with general and procedural questions.  Janet sits second chair at each trial the firm handles, and is indispensable to the successful trial practice the firm has developed over 22 years, notably in her ability to prepare witnesses for testimony, transcribe the testimony as it unfolds, and assists the lawyers in strategic evaluation and implementation of successful trial strategy.  According to Mr. Phillips, “Janet Briery is as good a legal mind as 90% of the practicing bar.  All she lacks is a law license.”   Prior to coming to work for the law firm, Ms. Briery was legal assistant to the corporate counsel and personal assistant to the owner of a privately held one-hundred-million dollar nationwide construction corporation.  Before moving to Texas, she worked as a supervising legal secretary in the Office of the Attorney General in Anchorage, Alaska.

Bonnie Sivertsen

Bonnie Sivertsen has been with the law firm since 1999, and is the office administrator/personal administrative assistant to Mr. Phillips.  She is, in Mr. Phillips’ own words, “the glue that holds the law firm together,” and was personally recruited by Mr. Phillips from a multi-million dollar corporation, in order to facilitate first class attorney/client relationships, as well as make sure that the firm runs on “all cylinders.”  In that respect, she handles Mr. Phillips’ personal schedule and appointments, as well as handling the firm’s logistics, personnel matters, and most document production for Mr. Phillips.  She has a wealth of  “people skills,” and is renowned in the Georgetown community, in particular, where she has lived with her husband (long-time Georgetown Eagle football, basketball & baseball coach, Rich Sivertsen) for 23 years, and is often asked to speak at community and church functions, as well as to various women’s groups.  Prior to coming to the law firm, Mrs. Sivertsen was executive assistant for the owner of a multi-million dollar corporation, maintaining all his personal finances, in addition to interfacing with the corporation’s comptroller, who oversaw the daily financial obligations of the company.  She has maintained that function, expertly, with Robert M. Phillips & Associates.  In addition, Mrs. Sivertsen has a wealth of experience as a legal assistant, dating back to the late 1960′s, when she worked for a Minneapolis, Minnesota law firm, assisting them in major plaintiff litigation.  She has also been the executive assistant/office administrator for Avco Financial Services Executive Headquarters and Aetna Retirement Services, Inc.

Wendy Noga

Wendy Noga is likely to be the first voice you hear when you call the law firm:  she answers most of the incoming phone calls, and is largely responsible for the scheduling of client appointments and court settings.  Wendy’s hearty laugh and calming disposition are important elements in making our clients feel comfortable from the outset of our representation and confident that their cases will be handled properly and diligently.  Wendy assists every member of the firm, and handles just about every aspect of the back office.  Prior to coming to work for the firm in 2003, Wendy worked for a number of years for the University of Oklahoma, College of Continuing Education, planning seminars, assisting instructors and students, and handling general administrative duties.   She also brings to the law firm many years of customer service experience.
